The Hell Hounds Word Bearers took the field against John's Nurgle Alpha Legion (Plague Hydras? Infection Alpha? There's a good name in there somewhere). We played a Maelstrom mission, with us each having three cards a turn and corner deployment. In the top right, two rhinos and the daemon prince Garm head to a critical objective while other forces hang back to secure our deployment zone.

Konor Weeks 4 and 6
Two more weeks of the Konor campaign, weeks 4 and 6. The Word Bearers continue their erratic efforts in aid of the Death Guard's efforts in the system...or are they just pursuing their own goals?

Fourth War for Armageddon: Planetfall
We had our next mission for our Armageddon campaign, a modified Planetfall mission (power level 75). Chaos and Ork forces rain down from orbit upon the beleaguered Imperial defenders. Above, some of sonsofsonsoftaurus' Ultramarines take up positions.
My early pictures of my own game seem to have disappeared. I played against John W's Deathskulls. Bastion in the middle with a squad inside, squad and officer outside, squads and tanks spread out behind. He brought an all infantry force aside from a dakkajet, and descended with a vengeance.

Fourth War for Armageddon - Escape!
After the initial surprises and setbacks from attacks against better prepared than expected orks and surprise assaults from traitor forces, the Imperial forces fall back towards Hive Acheron to regroup. Unfortunately their foes have cut off most avenues of retreat, and small forces try to punch through where they can.
This week we were playing the Ambush mission from the new rulebook, with a few modifications to fit the intention better (restrictions on value you get from deep strikers or flyers escaping). I played against Cory's orks. Given the mission I took an armored spearhead (command russ, other russ, hellhound, armored sentinel, two chimeras with infantry squads and a platoon commander). Cory was also all mounted, with warboss in batlewagon with boyz and a big mek, and two trukks with more boyz. Power Level 50.

7th ed wind-down. Space Sharks vs. Blood Angels, terrain and primarch
A few weekends ago I had a little fight with Sam's Blood Angels, 1250pts, one objective each side plus secondaries. We were playing in the store's new location, and I was going to have a car full of terrain we were bringing back, so took a compact force of terminators and a jump pack squad run as Vanguard vets. Sam had a mechanized force - termies and characters in Redeemer, predator and two tacs in rhinos.

Vraks: A Farewell to Templates
Today Scott came over with his Death Korps of Krieg and we played a 2500pt a side Vraks slugfest, partly as a farewell to 7th edition. And man, it's good that blast markers are going away in 8th edition because I think we wore ours out in this battle!
We had been working our way through the actual Imperial Armour 5-7 missions, originally intending to play through the whole Vraks campaign, but that fell by the wayside after the first 3 (?) scenarios. Instead we went with this, with his DKoK against my renegades, represented by my Scythiak Usurpation and assisted by sonofsonsoftaurus commanding my Steel Legion/Merkan 76th figures towards the top of this pic (chaos right flank) (renegades using regular IG rules). With the Death Korps loaded down with artillery pieces, our only hope was to swarm across no man's land as fast as we could and close with the guns. The whistles blew and we were off!

Massilia campaign: Iron Warriors vs. Grey Knights
I had missed the official start of the campaign due to snow and then being out of town the following week, so this was the first mission I've been able to play. It was 1250pts, my Iron Warriors vs. Josh M's Grey Knights. The mission is called "Survivors", where the objectives represent injured warriors from the different factions you try to rescue/capture. After setup you roll to see if they are Imperial, Chaos, or local xenos (basically eldar). Objective for your faction is worth 2VP, opposing faction worth 3VP, xenos 1VP. Could make for some interesting late-game choices I think.

Scythiak Usurpation vs. Ultramarines, Iron Warriors progress, Massilla campaign prelude
Sonofsonsoftaurus and I played a game at home, his Ultra vs. my Chaos Guard, the Scythiak Usurpation. 2000pts, and I had him set up the terrain and scenario. I am attacking the entrenched Ultramarines, having driven them out of the city (or did I? Likely a feigned retreat to overextend the heretics) and am trying to break through to their landing areas. We each get a point for each unit destroyed, and I get a point for every unit I get off the far table edge. Ultras have to all start on the table, no reserves.

Vraks: Take the Fort!
Scott and I both had the day off and decided to use part of it with the next section of the Siege of Vraks campaign. The first mission was such a blow out for Krieg that we decided to skip the second mission (which is basically a continuation of the first one) and jump to the third. Chaos is still the defender here, defending a strongpoint in the line as a horde of Krieg infantry attacks.

Shards of Anaris - Finale
Today we culminated the Shards of Anaris campaign. Scott and his Space Wolves and Leonard and his Orks were tied far ahead of the rest of us, and no one would have time to catch up. Since they were the clear leaders, I floated the idea to them that they should slug it out in a large game for supremacy, and any other players available could support them. This also was our first game using the splendid ork scrapyard terrain that awesome guy but infrequent player Ben created.

Shards of Anaris - Week 10
Orks ended up with the deployment edge, with three objectives towards their end, two on mine and one in the middle. I have some teleporting terminators that can hopefully disrupt his back lines when they arrive. Rhino and rocks help provide line of sight blocking and cover from the big scary shooting threats, the shokk attack gun and looted wagon.

Shards of Anaris: Week 9 - Jungle Fever
I faced off against Nathan's Necrons to try to recover a shard (1500pts), on a run-down Necron tomb world overrun by jungle, lovely terrain courtesy of Scott (our Space Wolf player this campaign).

Shards of Anaris - campaign week six
Another week of mayhem and merriment hunting down the Shards of Anaris!
sonofsonsoftaurus is getting the knack for themed tables, developing a battle scene with several chaotic shrines. My Endless Ones faced off against his Ultramarines to recover bits of information that would help lead us to additional pieces of the god-weapon, Anaris.

Shards of Anaris - Week 5
My family and I were on vacation the prior week, but sonofsonsoftaurus and I returned to the campaign today. Counting us we had six players and five games were played. We also did some work on updating a few of the store terrain pieces.
My first game was with Scott's Space Wolves, fighting over one of the Shards of Anaris. I brought a Nurgle force this time led by Typhus. Scott had a variety of marines and a formation of rune priests. Our fight was held on an old battleground, with several minefields scattered about.

The Shards of Anaris Campaign Report
We started our Shards of Anaris campaign a week early as there was a lot of interest in folks showing up. We turned out to have seven players show up and had five games played, a great start!

Jornath: Blood Axes vs. Salamanders, Road Rage!
Imperial attacks, led by elements of several chapters of Space Marines - Mortifactors, White Scars, Salamanders and Blood Angels - have blunted the initial ork advances on Jornath and eliminated several of their leaders, though not without loss to the marines themselves. A new ork leader emerges uniting several of the Blood Axe warbands and heads south, striking towards a highway that will lead to rich pickings. Elements of the Salamanders are dispatched to defend the junction and stop the advancing orks with flame and fury.
The ork warboss, Donald J. Krump whipped his boyz up into a frenzy before sending them out. "We goin over dere to fight da beakies. I love da beakies, no one loves da beakies more than I do. But these are terrible beakies, so we gotta krump em. Den we get into da oomie cities and get some lootin on. Da oomies love me, cause I'm gonna give all da oomies jobs buildin what we need to keep krumpin. We're gonna build da Waaaagh - it's gonna be a bootiful Waaagh - they said we couldn't, so you know what? Da Waaaagh just got bigger! We're gonna build da Waaagh, and da Imperium is gonna pay for it! Weze gonna make Gork n' Mork great again!"
