Scythiak Usurpation - Painted Spawn Riders
A little more progress on the Scythiak. Since they were one of the stars of the last game, I decided to get more done on the Spawn Riders (count as Sentinels). Still need basing and a little matte sealer at least for the riders to knock some shine down, but I think that they're pretty much done.
I originally was thinking of doing the troopers' fatigues in red, but the white/washed look grew on me, so I just left it pretty much as it was.
At present the riders aren't glued in place. I'm currently leaning heavily towards leaving them that way. They stay on pretty well for normal play, and I can take the rider off to represent a Weapon Destroyed result, or remove them to use the Spawn as Spawn for any CSM armies/Gift of Chaos creations.
Last minute reminder - anyone even remotely local to High Point, NC come on out tomorrow for GameOn's Games Day!

They look groovy, but I have this urge to say ew at the same time!
ReplyDeleteThe shields on the back are inspired. The paintjob is nice.
ReplyDeleteThanks folks! Groovy & eww at the same time = success! The shields on the back will be seen on many of the techno-barbarian infantry figs.
ReplyDeleteVery oddly reminiscent of bugs mating. Disturbing and lovely.
ReplyDeleteWell, you do want to bond closely with your mount...
ReplyDeleteThese guys look so cool, really awesome job on the painting. I think the fatigues are great just as they are. I hope the day of gaming went well, sorry I couldn't make it as my wife is still out of town. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteThanks Papa! The gaming day went well, sorry you couldn't make it out. Maybe for the next one, especially as you should be closer by then!
