Guilford Courthouse, Community Links

Map by Richard Harvey

On Saturday my son and I got out to some of the events for the local Guilford Courthouse re-enactment.  He enjoyed seeing the old houses and the craftsfolk, and talking with the people about what they were cooking, and what he already had for breakfast.  When we went two years ago he mostly enjoyed just running around the tents playing hide-and-go-seek, but he was much more involved this time.

On Sunday we went back for some of the actual battle re-enactment, and he seemed to enjoy it, though we left partway through as the concentrated musket fire became too loud for him.  Still, he's enjoyed marching around the house in his new tricorn using his broom to fight Hessians.

Couple of quick links to my more recent finds:

48th Steel Legion - I'm a sucker for the Steel legion figs.  Some nice conversions, and he's one of those maniacs that goes for detailed camouflage on his infantry models.  Madness!

The Gamer's Workbench - The homemade purity seals are what attracted me to the site, but there's other good stuff too!

The 19th Legion - Raven Guard, Tau, Imperial Guard, and various video battle reports.

Flashlights of Fury - Tallarn IG, the cool "5 Minute History" series and some other stuff.

  1. Those are some very good finds. I follow the 19th Legion on Youtube, I really enjoy their battle reports.

  2. Yep, I look forward to more good stuff from all of them.

  3. It's good to hear you and your son had such a fun time. Why did tricorn hats ever go out of style?

  4. did you see the miniature's diorama of the battle. they have at Guilford Courthouse ?

  5. Yeah, I think I saw it but don't remember much and didn't have a camera on me at the time.
