I love terrain kits, and picked these up earlier this summer from another local, expecting to get around to them eventually to have more stuff for tables. Now with fortifications in 6th edition, I decided to get around to them sooner rather than later and did a quick job on them this weekend.
I wanted to keep them pretty generic, so they could fit in with many different armies and boards. So I went with a dirty grey, going for an old concrete look with metallics for the eagles and all the riveted areas. The weapon emplacements were just black with metallic over them, then dirtied up a bit.
This fortification bug must be catching, I was looking at an Aegis defense line my self the other day. I think the generic style is the way to go, especially for a standard bastion.

I have an Aegis line in the box, planned to use the lines and then use the gun for a traitor hydra, but never got around to it.
ReplyDeleteThere's probably some more terrain coming in the next while...
Maybe we could work out a trade, if you are interested. That is unless you have a master plan with two fortifications in two force orgs?

Maybe, but I'll probably want to hang onto them, at least to do the hydra conversion.
ReplyDeleteWith all the flyers appearing, A hydra is a good thing to have.

Looks nice, the neutral colors should serve you well.
ReplyDeleteDon't get too hyped on the Hydra, the quad gun works better vs troops since it has interceptor. Your Hydra would have to snap fire to shoot jetbikes, infantry and ground vehicles.
No reason you can't take both!
ReplyDeleteEven if the enemy doesn't have any flyers, a Hydra would be an extra blocking, tank shocking, heavy flamer platform which isn't too bad, and not too expensive. And hopefully it would look cool. ;-)
