Battletech unseen mech...er, Robotech kickstarter

OK, I resisted as long as I could, but I succumbed to the Robotech miniatures kickstarter.  

Maybe the game itself will be fun too, but mainly I'm looking at it as a good way to get a ton of plastic mechs for Battletech, especially as they are the designs from the original sets and hard to find/expensive things otherwise.

Last weekend I got in two games, one as a makeup game vs. Jim Bowen's Squat Marines, the other against James McCoy's Daemons.  I didn't take any pics of the former, but here's some of the latter!

We were playing Kill Points with Vanguard Strike deployment, 1250pts.

I'm competitive - you're just not my competition

The great gamer divide - competitive vs. non-competitive.  It gets put into other frameworks, like tournament vs. narrative gamers, competitive vs. casual, what have you.  But at the core, it comes down to the idea that one group is competitive, while the other one isn't.

The answer to the above picture should be, "Every 40K player."  No matter what you collect or play, you should be able to find a use for a rhino, so if you find one cheap, snap it up!

40K League Report: Orks vs. Daemons

I missed last week's game, but got one in this weekend with James McCoy's Chaos Daemons.  1000pts, Relic/Vanguard Strike.  Above you can see a bunch of his seriously old-school daemonettes and horrors, led by an old WHFB Chaos champion serving as a herald.  This is some serious late-1980s metal here folks!

He had Tzeentchian, Slaaneshi, and Nurgle heralds, a unit of daemonettes, a unit of horrors, a Tzeentchian Soul Grinder, a bastion with lascannon, with CSM allies providing a terminator lord, a 5-man squad of marines and an obliterator.

I took megaboss/5xmeganobs in battlewagon, 11xshootaboys in trukk, 30xshootaboys, 10xgrots, 3xlobbas, dreadnought.

We rolled up traits and such, set up the field and got ready to roll!

40K League Battle Report: Orks vs. Soul Drinkers

Another league game, this time at 1000pts, the Scouring vs. Corben's Soul Drinkers.  Why they want to drink feet, the Orks don't really understand, but whatever.

Shokk Attack! WIP Big Mek w/Shokk Attack Gun

I've always liked the Shokk Attack Gun, from the first time I encountered them in the Epic Ork and Squat Warlords book.  I had great fun blowing Titans apart with warp-crazed snotlings back in the day.  

I love the current SAG model, but have yet to put down the money for one.  So, instead I had the urge to try to convert one.  At first I looked at a loota kit, but decided that the Big Mek should be at least nob sized, so started with a nob body.
